Welcome to Chess Trainer - Repertoire Builder

Chess Trainer - Repertoire Builder is an Android app that lets you do the following:

  1. Play one player games against a chess engine, either the built-in Stockfish engine or a UCI chess engine that you installed. You can also play two player games on a single device with your friends.

  2. Review games that are saved in PGN file format. You can continuously review several games in one button click. When reviewing games, you have the option to review including variations and listen to your mobile's text-to-speech engine automatically read comments for you. It is like watching a chess tutorial video. To do this you have to set options in setting page before reviewing games in PGN file format.

  3. Create and build your own opening repertoires through its built-in opening builder. There are lots of options to build your opening repertoire:

    • Manually enter the moves for you and your opponent's. Ideally, you only have to enter one best move for you for every opponent's move but you can have as many alternative moves as you like. Manually entering moves is best when you are studying chess opening book or magazine as reference.

    • Import from PGN file. When importing you have the options to include variations, NAGs, colored square and arrow graphics, time information, and player actions.

    • Paste a game from clipboard. If you have other chess app installed in your mobile and has the ability to copy a game to clipboard then when you activate Chess Trainer you can paste the copied game in your opening.

    • Apply moves from chess engine's analysis in your opening.

    • Lastly, you can combine manually entering move and applying chess engine analysis.

  4. Train your opening with various combinations of training options to effectively master your openings in a short period of time.

  5. Create strategy, endgames, or tactics puzzles in Topics repertoire. You can manually build you topics repertoire by manually adding topics items and manually entering moves in the chessboard or you can import puzzles in PGN file format.

  6. Train on your created Topic puzzles.

  7. Create tutorial and save it in PGN file format. When you are creating tutorial you can incorporate graphic arrows and squares to describe your point or idea in a particular positions. You can also embed graphic dots and arrows within your comment but this technique is proprietary to this app and not compatible to other chess apps available in Google Play store. This technique is very effective because while your comment's audio is playing, arrows and dots are in sync with it. They appear and disappear while the comment's audio is playing.

Chess Trainer - Repertoire Builder is a versatile tool that is designed to improve your overall chess skills. You just have to know how to do it properly. The good thing is that it's easy to learn how to use the app because it is using a common user interface on its different functions.
